Rock Creek Drifter. $1850. All BS1088 grade mahogany ply topsides and compartments, with 3/8 inch AA Marine bottom panel. All surfaces have not less than 2 coatings of West System epoxy and the bottom is sheathed with 6 ounce glass cloth. Chines, transom, bow and compartments are reinforced with 3 inch and 4 inch wide glass tape. Graphite bottom with standard waterline. Mahogany inwale and outwale. All compartments accessed with Beckson screw-outs.
This was the second boat built to check out the new building plans and was published in Outdoor Life magazine in 2011. This is a lightweight all-around take-apart version of a traditional drift boat. The bottom has slightly less rocker to motor and row more efficiently and the transom is widened for extra stability to make the boat better suited to general recreational use. And the 2 pieces can always be glued back together if the take-apart option is not needed.
